Steve Johnson, Managing Partner

Steve Johnson is the founder and Managing Partner of Sage Hill Partners. He currently sits on the board of ChoiceStream, Inc. (Cambridge, MA). In addition, Steve is a founding board member of Sage Hill School (Newport Beach, CA) and a board member of The University of California Graduate School of Management (Irvine, CA), The University of Southern California Councilors of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (Los Angeles, CA) and The Winsor School (Boston, MA).

Prior to Sage Hill Partners, Steve was the Vice President of America Online's Software and Technology Development Division. At AOL, he was in charge of software development and led the development of AOL 4.0, "You've Got Pictures," and telephony and broadcast products. He also managed media technology research, development and acquisition.

In 1991, Steve co-founded Johnson-Grace, a company specializing in image, sound and video compression technology and served as its co-CEO. Johnson-Grace was acquired by America Online in 1996. Steve holds a US patent, issued in 1999, for the image compression technology currently used in AOL's service.

Steve Johnson graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics in 1980 and received a Master's Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1985, where he continued in the doctoral program until 1990.
